local projects we love
Here are some incredible projects happening around town, from locals and friends, that we really think you should know about!

From the lens of her Tintype camera and a tiny mobile darkroom in the trunk of her Subaru, Sarah Jones Decker has been documenting the aftermath of Hurricane Helene through powerful and personal portraits of Marshall and its community. Sarah brings her studio on the road, meeting people where they are with genuine smile and warm authenticity. Her work offers something more than just a photo, they are intimate stills of moments in our collective history, where the people behind the flood can truly be seen. But this style of photography isn't cheap! You can venmo Sarah at @paintcreektintypes to keep her Subaru studio rollin!

Community Projects
Spraypainted on the boarded-up facades of damaged buildings, there are now beautiful and vibrant images of the people we hold dear. This is the work of Oscar Montes, a local graffiti artist who has been adorning the buildings with beautiful and moving portraits of the people who make them come alive.

Primrose's Tea Tent opened the first week of the flood, a beautiful space she created inside a whimsical circus tent in the comfort of her yard. Here, Primrose offers a place of solace and warmth, where visitors can stop by for a cup of tea or coffee, a pleasant chat and a welcome escape from the chaos of the outside world.
